"Columbus" Hand-Painted English Chess Set

These fine art reproductions are made of crushed marble combined with resin to produce these authentic pieces.

Depicting characters who were involved in the first voyage in 1492, and some of the native Americans Columbus
and his successors were to meet. Representing the European side: Columbus is the King, and Isabella of Castile the
Queen, Amerigo Vespucci and Fray Diego de Deza are the Bishops, Martin Alonso Pinzon and Vincent Danez Pinzon
of Palos are the two Knights with the Santa Maria as the Castle and Spanish seamen as Pawns. On the American side:
Emperor Montezuma II of the Aztecs is the King, and an Inca Sun Virgin the Queen. For the bishops there is a Mayan
Priest and an Aztec High Priest. The Knights are represented by an Inca Warrior and a Chief from the Southeastern
Indians. The Castle is the Temple of Kukulcan at Chichen Itza and the pawns are Carib Indians. Approximate height
of Kings are 6-1/2 inches tall. The Columbus Painted Marble Chess Sets are made and hand-painted in England.
